Trevor's volunteer story Trevor began volunteering for Central Southwark Community Hub in November 2017 after coming into Community Southwark to see our Volunteer Adviser. He started doing one shift a week. When he arrived the team said: "He had not been out for many years since he stopped working. He was very quiet and said very little. That all changed as he started realising that he had lots to offer and that his help was needed and appreciated." The team had recently undergone changes leaving the organisation needing new volunteers. Trevor would support new volunteers to feel comfortable and offered more of himself wherever and whenever he is required. The Hub's clients know and respects him and know him to be a quiet caring person. Trevor now volunteers three days per week on a regular basis. He is one of the most flexible volunteers that the team have. Trevor who had felt uncomfortable with outsiders now enjoys coming in to volunteer around three times a week.
