Community Southwark will be carrying out the consultation on the future of Southwark Park. We are looking for residents from the surrounding areas to attend one of two workshops scheduled early 2021 to give their views on what should be done in the future of Southwark Park.

We also invite residents to complete the consultation questionnaire. The survey closes on Tuesday 26th February 2021.

Over the last 5 years several improvement projects have been delivered at Southwark Park including the installation of additional tennis courts, upgrading the playground and resurfacing the athletics track. Earlier this year construction of the new grand pavilion overlooking the lake was completed and the building now houses a new park café, park office and public toilets.

More recently construction work has started that will deliver a new Sports and Athletics Centre at the park.

As the current programme nears completion Southwark Council is keen to engage with stakeholders, residents and park users to gather ideas and identify key priorities for future investment in the park. We will be undertaking community consultation to help the council to shape and develop proposals to secure future investment in the park.

The council has commissioned Community Southwark to co-ordinate consultation activities to help gather their feedback on what changes people would like to see.

Two virtual public meetings will be held via Zoom, alongside an online consultation survey, containing structured discussion about what changes locals would like to see. These meetings will use a number of digital features to gather ideas using online polls, mood-boards, breakout room discussion with peers, and presentations. There will be one daytime session, and one evening session. The results of the initial consultation will be published for further discussion and will be used to further develop proposals based on local priorities.

Whilst we had hoped to hold a number of face-to-face workshops and pop-up stalls, current Covid-19 safety regulations has meant that we have had to move the consultation online. However we will keep the situation under review and aim to hold site based engagement activities where possible.
