The South East London Suicide Bereavement Service is providing support for people who have recently lost someone to suicide across the boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark

Who are the South East London Suicide Bereavement Service?

The South East London Suicide Bereavement Service launched in August 2021 as a partnership between Mind in South East London and South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.

Who do they work with?

The South East London Suicide Bereavement Service work with people who have recently lost someone to suicide across the boroughs of Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. That means if you live in one of these boroughs or your loved one lived or died in one of these boroughs the service is here to support you. All ages are catered for, including children and young people.

What support is available?

Support includes practical support e.g. funeral arrangements as well as emotional support e.g. helping you to understand your unique grieving process. For more examples of the practical and emotional support that the service offers, please see the leaflet attached.

How is support offered?

Support is offered in three ways:

1. 1-1 support with a suicide bereavement worker

2. bereavement counselling with a counsellor

3. support groups with other people bereaved by suicide (launching in early 2022).

The service will also be able to signpost you to other services that may be of benefit based on your needs.

How do you refer to the service?

You can self-refer in three ways:

3. Call 07933 393 397 directly.

You can also ask your GP to refer you using any of the referral methods listed above.

When is the service open?

The service is available 9am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. Evening and weekend appointments are available if required.
