The aim of this course is to ensure staff, multi-agency partners in a wide range of roles and safeguarding leads from the wider community, understand their responsibility in Safeguarding adults and have the confidence and knowledge to act appropriately to secure the best outcomes for the adult.

This course also aims to provide knowledge of policy, procedures and legislation that supports safeguarding adults activity at an introductory level to enable local authority, voluntary and independent sector care organisation staff to respond appropriately to concerns and reports of financial/material abuse within the context of the London Multi-Agency Adult Safeguarding Policy.

Learning outcomes:

  • Recognise an adult potentially in need of Safeguarding and take action as appropriate to role
  • Understanding the procedures for raising a safeguarding concern
  • Understand dignity and respect when working with individuals
  • Understanding Safeguarding best practice
  • Understanding of what is meant by financial abuse, what increases the risks to adults, and how to apply this to practice
  • Understand the wider arena that includes fraud, scams and abuse on line.
  • Demonstrate agencies can work together to safeguard adults from financial abuse, the law, the policy and the limitations on intervention.
  • Have a greater potential to challenge and address financial abuse
