St George the Martyr Charity is looking to recruit three new Trustees.

St George the Martyr Charity  are one of a number of ancient, endowed charities that operate in the north of the London Borough of Southwark. Currently they primarily support older people who live in the area of benefit.

This includes:

  • the payment of ‘pensions’ (small, regular gifts of money to supplement individuals’ state and occupational pensions)
  • free social opportunities (coach outings, theatre trips and holidays)
  • grants for household items
  • free homecare services such as hairdressing and nail care and Christmas hampers/vouchers.

They also provide grants to organisations that support people in need in the area.

The Trustee Board has started to rethink what the Charity ought to be doing going forward, in the light of the changing pattern of need and public and voluntary sector service provision in Southwark. This has become much more noticeable since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. New Trustees will have an opportunity to play a key part in determining how the Charity deploys its funds in the short, medium and long term.

If you are interested, please have a look at the Trustee Recruitment page on their website.

They are keen to use the recruitment process to improve the diversity of the Board in respect of ethnicity, gender and age.

The closing date for applications in 30th April 2021
