Latest CS news *SOUTHWARK STARS JUNE 2021* Published 27 April We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting our annual Southwark Stars once again online, this JUNE 2021! The event recognises outstanding volunteers, community groups and local people and this will be the start of us hosting this event every year in June. We are hoping that this will be our last online event and next year we will be able to celebrate and hold the event in person! We will be holding our Southwark Stars Award event online, on THURSDAY 24 June, from 6.00pm to 7.30pm: Please add this to your calendars! Southwark Stars gives us the opportunity to celebrate those who take the time to volunteer to support others and helping to make Southwark a better place. Since the outbreak of COVID 19 and two lockdowns in place we have seen huge numbers of volunteers coming together to help those in need in all different ways across the borough and we want to use this evening to say THANK YOU. This event will be a chance to showcase your volunteers in stories, photos and videos and a chance to nominate volunteers in 6 different special categories and put forward your dedicated 100+ hour volunteers. NOMINATE YOUR 2021 SOUTHWARK STARS! Nominating for Special award categories These celebrate outstanding contributions from volunteers and examples of good practice across the voluntary and community sector as a whole. Of course we would love to give awards to every single one of you, as everything you do is fantastic, so don’t forget to send your photos, videos and stories plus nominate your 100+ hour volunteers so we can showcase them on the night (see below for details). The award categories are: Community Group of the Year (You do not need to be registered or have constitution) Outstanding Contribution to Health and Wellbeing Keib Thomas Active Citizen of the year Young Volunteer of the Year Older volunteer of the year Disabled Volunteer of the Year You can nominate by using our simple online form for these six individual special award categories Organisations can nominate themselves for these awards as well as their volunteers, but you can only nominate in: Up to two special award categories Up to two nominations per special award category Nominations are also open to the general public and people who use the services of community groups. *Please note* for the judging panel to choose the winners, we really need as much information on the nomination form on why you think the nominee should win. These volunteers have gone the extra mile and volunteered in over 100 hours of volunteering. Application deadline The closing date for all nominations is Friday 21 May 2021 after which applications will be shortlisted by a panel. All you need to do is fill out this online nomination form. If you have any issues, please do contact us on [email protected] Videos, photos and stories As this year’s Southwark Stars are online and condensed to 1 hour 30 minutes, we really want it to be an opportunity to show videos, photos and share the incredible stories you have! 100 hour certificates will be show cased through your photos and videos and so it is really important you send us some lovely content. What to send us Photos, please attach in nomination form - Please send photos of your volunteers, community group or individuals (get permission first). These photos need to be good quality (at least 72 dpi), in a JPEG or PNG format. If you are unable to send via the nomination form then just email them us! 100 hour volunteer photos, please attach in nomination form - If you can have your 100 hour volunteer or if there are more than 1 100 hour volunteer, can they be grouped together holding a sign saying “I am a 100 hour volunteer” that would be great, if it is not possible to do this then no worries a regular photo is also fine. If you are unable to send via the nomination form then just email them to us! Videos please email them to us - Please send; any videos you have over the past year, any videos you already have used on your website or social media channels, a new video highlighting the work you do or an inspiring story! (please keep these short, up to 30 seconds ideally. Please only send MP4 or MOV file types. Story please email them to us Please send any good stories that highlights the incredible work that your volunteers/volunteer, individual or community group have done. Throw a party for the online Southwark Stars, have a group watch it at your organisation! It would be great for all your beneficiaries and volunteers to watch and be a part of the online Southwark Stars altogether at your organisation (under COVID19 rules) You could have a screening with food and refreshments and make it a lovely celebratory event.
