During its Development Day in September 2021 members of Southwark Voice expressed a wish not only for local parties to consider the asks of Southwark VCS ahead of 2022 local elections  but also for closer ongoing collaboration and joint working with senior leaders of the council.

We are delighted to report that Cllr Kieron Williams, Leader of the Council agreed to involve representatives from Southwark Voice to form a VCS Panel, which will be interviewing candidates for the post of the new Southwark Council Chief Executive Officer. The VCS Panel will have the opportunity to meet with shortlisted candidates, ask questions and provide feedback. The final decision to appoint the Chief Executive will be done through a vote at full council, following a recommendation from the Appointments Committee (details on the council website are here).

The VCS Panel Members are:

  • Cedric Whilby - Southwark R.E.A.C.H. Alliance (Trustee, Community Southwark)
  • Lara Daniel - Older People's Network (Chair, Kingswood Estate Tenants Residents Association)
  • Nancy Liscano - Latin American Network (Director, Voades UK)
  • Sally Causer - Southwark Homelessness Forum, Southwark Legal Advice Network (Director, Southwark Law Centre)
  • Sarah Thurman – Southwark Funders Network (Head of Community Investments, United St. Saviour's Charity).
