Join our campaign and #ConnectAtChristmas! Would you like to support a local charity this Christmas? It will mean they can reach out to more people in need, at what can be a lonely and difficult time of year.

Last year, London Borough of Southwark (LBS) and funders pooled resources and set up a Connected at Christmas Fund benefitting over 4,000 older and vulnerable residents.
This year they've coming together again for Connected at Christmas 2021 to provide funding to support activities for the lonely and vulnerable and provide ways for the public to connect with each other this Christmas.

Loneliness and isolation across the borough has increased hugely over the past 18 months and so local charities – and the council – are exploring ways to reach out to those in most need over the Christmas season.

Here are three ways you could get involved this year:

1. Organise an activity:

The council and local charities have established a fund of £48,000 to support activities over xmas for older and vulnerable people. The grants will support charities, local community groups and Sheltered Housing Schemes to connect with, and deliver, a range of activities, visits and small parties for older and vulnerable Southwark residents. To apply click here. Applications will be approved as they come in on a first come, first served basis.

Some of these funds have been set aside for TRA's to apply for activities that are aimed at Southwark’s older residents, vulnerable people, or people in hardship. If you are a TRA and would like to do something, fill in this application form and return it to SGTO by Friday 10 December: [email protected]

2. Make a donation to a charity of your choice

Community Southwark have set up this list below of community organisations with links to their fundraising pages and information about support in kind, such as gifts for xmas, so you can make a donation to support the work they are doing to make lives better in Southwark. Please select a charity that you would like to donate to by clicking on the URL in the column 'URL Link to Your Fundraising Page' in the table below:

If you are a Southwark charity and would like to be added to this database, you can join it here.

3. Volunteer

Local community organisations and charities often need help and support and this is particularly so at times like Christmas. If you would like to do something please look at all available opportunities on this page here.
