Alice, our Research & Intelligence Officer at Healthwatch Southwark, tells us a bit about herself and her role.

I’m Alice, the Research & Intelligence Officer at Healthwatch Southwark, which is hosted by Community Southwark. Healthwatch is the health and social care champion for Southwark residents.

If you use GPs and hospitals, dentists, pharmacies, care homes or other support services, we want to hear about your experiences. We have the power to make sure NHS leaders and other decision makers listen to your feedback and improve standards of care. We also help people to find reliable and trustworthy information and advice

I joined the staff team Healthwatch Southwark in October 2019, after volunteering as a Community Champion while studying for my Master's degree in Public Health and working on research into HIV and inequalities. I also used to volunteer as a Community Researcher at Healthwatch Islington, so I have been in the Healthwatch world for a while!

I am passionate about providing space for people to share their experiences and stories. My role involves collecting and analysing local people’s feedback, carrying out research projects in collaboration with stakeholders (e.g. in the NHS or Council), writing reports and using them to influence positive change. I also support our signposting and advice service, especially when it comes to searching for the right information for people to make decisions about their care.
