This course is aimed at those working with over 18's who need to have an overview and general understanding of self-harm and suicide and the support adults may require. Delegates should be prepared to actively participate in and contribute their experience and issues in the course.

  Learning Outcomes:

  • To have understanding of the definitions, differences and commonalities in suicide and self- harm and legal position of each
  • To understand possible causes and methods of self-harm and suicide
  • To have explore preventative measures to reduce the risk to a person's wellbeing
  • To be able to confidently spot key triggers indicating need for intervention and know how to report and refer
  • To have considered risk assessment strategies to support suicide prevention
