This course aims to provide attendees with skills and information in relation to responding to adult safeguarding concerns as well as skills to enable attendees to contribute effectively to supporting adults where there is a safeguarding concern and abuse. This course also aims to provide skills to those who may participate in safeguarding adult’s investigations.

PLEASE NOTE: This course assumes  knowledge of Adults Safeguarding Level 2 and therefore Level 2 content will not be refreshed during this session.

This course also aims to provide knowledge of policy, procedures and legislation that supports safeguarding adults activity at an introductory level to enable local authority, voluntary and independent sector care organisation staff to respond appropriately to concerns and reports of financial/material abuse within the context of the London Multi-Agency Adult Safeguarding Policy.

Learning outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Gain confidence in safeguarding in the context of the Care Act, Making Safeguarding Personal and a person-centred approach
  • Enhance knowledge of the safeguarding adults process
  • Understand how adults with care and support needs are informed and supported in their decision making around safeguarding concerns
  • Be able to demonstrate appropriate responses to safeguarding concerns
  • Know how to maintain accurate and complete records and achieving best evidence
  • Gain knowledge of best practice, evidence research as well as learning from reviews and audits.
  • Understand a range of enquiry skills and approaches.
